Winner of the Irish Drink Award 2022

Winner of the Irish Drink Award 2022

Galway is known for its amazing food and drink, so it's no surprise that the County brought home 3 out of a total of 8 titles at this year's Irish Food Writers’ Guild Awards. Massive congratulations to our fellow foodie champions Coolfin cheese – Food Award Winner –and Gannet Fishmongers, for their Notable Contribution Award. Evidently, there are many delicious foods and beverages to choose from over here in the West of Ireland, which is only further reason as to why winning the 2022 Irish Drink Award was so so special to us.

If you had told All About Kombucha Co-Founders Emmett Kerrigan and Keith Loftus that they would win such a prestigious award in 2022, they would have told you that you’re flat out crazy. It's certainly a big jump from the company's first booch batches, which were brewed in Emmett's shed in the middle of Moycullen!

The lads (and the rest of the Booch Crew) have a passion for brewing a product that is more than just a healthy drink; we are All About creating a drink that's good for the gut, as well as good to the planet. Each of our kombucha flavours are packed with locally sourced and organic ingredients to craft a cold tea drink that plays on the traditional Irish love of cupán tae – Kombucha. Our drink is uniquely unpasteurised and uncompromised, meaning each can remains high in probiotics, antioxidants and an array of vitamins that can help to boost gut health.

The team has an inherent passion for sustainability, which has since remained a core value for the business as a whole. This is one of many driving factors behind our choice to chase and maintain the status as Ireland’s Only Carbon Neutral Kombucha Brewery. This mission has been made possible through the help of 1% for the Planet— an initiative set up by the Founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, to help combat climate change across the globe. We try to give back to our community as much possible, which is an ethos we share with Chouinard's organisation. In 2021, 10% of our revenue went toward the planting Native Irish Trees across The Burren, and the support of Regenerative Agriculture across the country, with the assistance of local Irish charities Hometree Charity and Burrenbeo Trust.

We vowed to ourselves as a team to just keep up the hard work over the past few years while the world and social scene continued to shift about; and it feels incredibly rewarding to hold this award as validation of the obstacles small businesses have had to overcome throughout.

The businesses weren't the only one's getting creative with food though! Check out the different recipes that were concocted to showcase the list of 2022 distinguished businesses, then maybe even give them a try in your own kitchen! The talented food and travel writer and photographer, Cliodhna Prendergast, created a Raspberry Kombucha Granita Recipe for All About Kombucha– the perfect dessert for any summer occasion.

Many thanks again to Cliodhna for the recipe as well as her all-around support these past few years. We are so grateful to the Irish Food Writers' Guild and Bord Bia: Irish Food Board for this recognition.

This somehow feels like only the beginning..

Sláinte lads!
